As a wanna-be writer, I postponed reading this book although aquainted with the family…guess I thought it would be like others of the type–overly dramatic. HOWEVER, I was mistaken! It was a gripping story of how the reality of the unreal can inspire the best within us, define our values, and deepen our faith. Kathy’s honest, flowing style combined beautifully with exerpts from Joel’s journal, making the story of a family’s journey through a teenager’s cancer diagnosis a really good read. This book would appeal to diverse ages and backgrounds, a wonderful book!

Proof of what family, faith, and love can do. Lives seem to shatter but are held together by a very special glue.

I read this book within the day of receiving it. I am biased because I know this author & her son & their story. It was a very well written story of their journey & it gave such insight into all the trials, their emotions & how they dealt with it all. The string throughout the book of their faith was subtle but strong & yet not a turn off for those who might not like that in books & therefore not read & miss out on the rest of the good in them. I hope everyone reads this, not just those who are experiencing the same journey. Kudos to Kathy & Joel!
