Today is Joel’s 27th birthday. He is six years cancer free and a 10 1/2 year cancer survivor. God bless you, Joel!
I was on Facebook today, just checking a few sites, when I opened a political post. I was astonished when I saw my book being advertised by Barnes and Noble on a scrolling sidebar along with Rush Limbaugh’s latest book, one of Nora Roberts books, and the Diary of a Whimpy Kid, as well as several other well-known books and authors. What a wonderful surprise that was! I would have loved to have been able to see my own face when I first noticed my book on that sidebar. Thank you Barnes and Noble!
First of all, I want to thank all of our veteran’s for their service to our country and I wish them all a very good day! My very dear husband is a veteran of the Viet Nam era, dad and father-in-law were both WWII veterans, and many other relatives and friends have served in the military. To all of you “Thank you”!
Yesterday, November 10, 2013, Joel and I had the wonderful opportunity to meet five other authors at a book signing in Little Falls, MN. The books varied from a children’s book entitled “Faith the Flower Friend,” written by Kris Marxhausen from the Milaca area, to a book entitled “Socially Challenged” written by Millie Moran and her husband after they were both diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer’s. Ken Peterson, a pilot (crop duster) from Staples, MN was signing his book “A Walk With God” which told of his life’s faith journey. The book “The Ruth Experience” was co-written by three women and was being signed by two of them, Julie Fisk and Kendra Roehl. It includes modern-day testimonies from women who have experienced God during their trials and triumphs.
I think we all enjoyed getting to meet one another, compare the challenges an author faces as well as the learning experience and wonderful things that happen once you have written a book.
Thank you Good Books & Gifts in Little Falls for allowing us this great opportunity!
Happy November! The clocks are set back, it’s supposed to snow this week; I guess winter will soon be here.
We enjoyed Halloween last week and especially enjoyed the little trick and treaters that came to our door. I’m not sure if I should risk leaving up the fall decorations through Thanksgiving and chance that they get frozen into the ground, or take them out now and prepare for Christmas! Such decisions!
Yesterday we went down to St. Cloud to visit Joel for the afternoon. Had a good time with him. We ate at Grizzly’s and visited with one of his former high school classmates who works there. Always fun to see her. Joel and Verdale went to Fleet Farm and I got to go to the quilt shop. Love it!
Next weekend is the beginning of deer hunting season here. It is also the beginning of many holiday bazaars and craft shows. Joel and I will be in Little Falls next Sunday to do a book signing at Good Books and Gifts. There will be several authors at the signing. I’m looking forward to meeting and visiting with them.
Have a great week!
